Pricing & payments

Money questions.

  • How much does a website cost?

One simple plan: $0 down, $75/month, all-inclusive. 12-month minimum, then month-to-month. Everything’s included, design, build, hosting, edits, security, and lifetime updates. You preview your real site free and only start paying once it’s live.

See the pricing page for the full feature list.

  • What’s included in the $75/month plan?

Everything: design and development, hosting, SSL, analytics, security patches, lifetime updates, 24/7 support, and unlimited ongoing edits. You email me when something needs updating, new staff bios, updated services, blog posts, seasonal banners, layout tweaks, and I do them.

The plan covers up to five pages by default. Additional pages are $100 each, one-time. Adding a blog is $250 one-time. Major new features (e-commerce, booking systems, custom calculators) are quoted separately.

  • What if I want to cancel the monthly plan?

Before the 12-month minimum, cancel and the remaining months of the commitment are due. Example: cancel at month 6, the remaining 6 months × $75 = $450 owed. This is what makes $0 down financially viable for a one-person studio.

After the 12-month minimum, cancel any time with 30 days’ written notice, no exit fee. At the end of the notice period, the subscription ends and the site is taken offline.

Your domain stays in your business’s name and is yours regardless. Anything you provided (logo, photos, written content) is yours to keep. The built site itself is not transferable, the monthly plan is a subscription, not a buyout. See the full terms.

  • Are there any hidden fees?

No. The only items billed beyond the headline price are:

    • Domain renewal (passed through at registrar cost, typically $15–25/year)
    • Add-ons you choose (extra pages at $100 each, blog at $250)
    • Major new features quoted separately and only built after written approval

The studio doesn’t bill for revisions inside scope, doesn’t charge “account-management hours,” doesn’t mark up hosting, and doesn’t add surprise fees. The quote is the quote.

  • How do I pay?

Invoices are sent via email. Payment is due within fourteen days of receipt. Accepted methods include credit card, e-transfer (Canada), or ACH for monthly recurring billing.

Plans

What’s in scope, what isn’t.

  • How many pages do I get?

Both plans include up to five pages by default, typically Home, About, Services, Team, and Contact. Most small businesses find five pages is enough to launch a clean, complete site. If you need more, additional pages are $100 one-time each, and can be added at any point.

  • Can I add a blog?

Yes. Adding a blog architecture is a $250 one-time add-on. That covers the blog index page, individual post layouts, and the publishing workflow. Each blog post you write counts as a content edit and is included in the monthly plan’s unlimited edits.

  • Do you offer e-commerce?

Yes, but it’s a separate quote. E-commerce builds are scoped per project and typically run from $4,500 starting, depending on integrations (Shopify, Stripe, custom checkout) and product catalog complexity. Once built, the ongoing maintenance rolls into your monthly plan.

  • What about booking systems and custom calculators?

Both available as add-ons. Booking systems (consultations, intake calls) start at $800 depending on which scheduling platform you want integrated. Custom calculators, quote estimators, pricing tools, savings calculators, start at $1,200 depending on logic complexity.

  • What’s the minimum commitment for the monthly plan?

12 months. After that, the plan continues month-to-month indefinitely, cancel any time with 30 days’ notice, no exit fee. The 12-month minimum exists because the studio is recouping the build cost over time rather than collecting it up front.

  • Can I scale up later?

Yes. Add-ons can be added at any time during the engagement. Want to add a blog six months in? $250, done in a week. Need an extra five pages for a new service? $750, queued in. Want to add a booking system for client intake? Quoted to scope. Everything compounds with the existing plan, no “upgrade tier” mechanics.

  • What kinds of businesses do you usually work with?

All kinds, trades and contractors, clinics and practitioners, shops and studios, consultants, and professional services. The thread is small businesses that do careful, serious work for their customers and want a website that reflects that, precise, current, never showy.

SEO & websites

How the work actually works.

  • Do you do SEO?

Foundational SEO is included at launch, sitemap submitted to Google, schema markup, optimized meta tags and titles, fast-loading pages, mobile-friendly layout, and clean URL structure. These are the things that matter most for ranking and they’re built in by default.

What’s not included: ongoing SEO content campaigns (writing blog posts targeted to specific keywords each month), backlink-building services, paid Google Ads management. Those are specialty services and the studio doesn’t offer them. If you need them, I’m happy to recommend a few specialists I trust.

  • How long does it take to build?

Two to three weeks from preview-accept to launch is typical. Most engagements start with a working preview I’ve already put together based on your existing site, so you see a real, working landing page before any commitment. From there it’s a fixed scope, two rounds of revisions, and a launch date you can plan around.

Faster timelines are possible if your content is ready and revisions are quick. Slower timelines happen if there are major copy rewrites or if you need to coordinate sign-off with multiple partners.

  • Will my site be mobile-responsive?

Yes, every site, both tiers. Layouts are designed mobile-first and tested on phones, tablets, and desktops before launch. Most clients see well over half their traffic from mobile devices; the site is built to handle that from day one.

  • What’s the difference between hand-coded and a site builder?

Hand-coded sites (HTML, CSS, JS, deployed as static files) are faster, lighter, more accessible, and more durable. There’s no PHP runtime, no plugin updates that break the site at midnight, no database to backup or migrate, no theme that becomes deprecated and stranded.

Site builders (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace) trade speed and flexibility for ease of self-editing. They’re fine for some clients. They’re not what this studio builds, because for the businesses I work with, the trade is the wrong direction, speed, security, and sharp typography matter more than DIY editing.

  • Can I update content myself?

You don’t need to. Edits are handled by me, you email when something needs updating, and I do it. Most edits go live the same day, or next business day at the latest.

This is intentional. The businesses I work with would rather pay for someone to handle it correctly than learn yet another tool. If you genuinely want self-edit capability for a high-volume blog, we can talk about adding a headless CMS, but it’s a quoted add-on, and most clients don’t need it.

  • What hosting do you use?

Netlify. It’s static hosting with a global CDN, automatic SSL, and 99.99%+ uptime. Sites are served from edge servers near your visitors, which means sub-second page loads almost everywhere. No server management, no maintenance windows, no “the site is down because the database fell over” surprises.

  • Can I keep my existing domain?

Yes. The site lives on Netlify under your existing domain. I handle the DNS pointer at launch. Your email continues to work as it does today (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or whatever you’re on); the website doesn’t touch your mail records.

If you don’t have a domain yet, I’ll register one in your business’s name through a registrar of your choice and pass the cost through (typically $15–25/year).

  • Will my site be fast?

Yes. Static sites on a CDN typically load in under one second on a normal connection, Google PageSpeed Insights scores in the 95–100 range for both mobile and desktop are the baseline, not the goal.

Speed matters for two reasons: it improves your Google ranking (PageSpeed is a confirmed ranking factor) and it improves conversion (slow sites lose visitors before they finish reading the first paragraph).

  • What about SSL and security?

Included. SSL certificates are auto-provisioned and auto-renewed by Netlify. The static-hosting model has a much smaller attack surface than WordPress or other dynamic platforms, no PHP, no database, no admin panel to compromise, no plugins that need patching. Security patches and monitoring are part of the monthly plan.

  • Can I use my existing logo and branding?

Yes. Send what you have, logo files (SVG ideal, but I can work with PNG or JPG), brand colors if you have them documented, photography, and any existing copy. I’ll work around your existing identity rather than impose a new one.

If you don’t have a polished logo or brand kit yet, I can draft a simple wordmark and palette as part of the build. That’s common for businesses that have grown organically without ever doing a formal brand pass.
